How To Help Lubbock's Forgotten Children

Jun 17, 2023

Lubbock psychologist Dr. Shaun H. Keel spent over thirty years working with children with abused and neglected children, many of whom went through the foster care system. That kind of work has to take an emotional toll on a person, even a professional.

When faced with seemingly insurmountable injustices and cruelty in this life we have a few options: get depressed, get jaded, or get up and do something about it. Dr. Keel decided the last option was the best one, and founded Foster*A*Life, a nonprofit organization that fulfills the dreams and needs of abused and neglected children- particularly those who don't have a permanent family to help or console them.

Now you can decide if you'd rather get bummed out about this, or get up and help... by having a great time.

Foster*A*Life has an upcoming fundraising event on Saturday, August 5, 2023: The Hub City Beach Party, headlined by The Landsharks. Here is an excerpt from the press release with all the vital deets:

THE RAFFLE WITH TWO GRAND PRIZES FOR $1250 UNITED SUPERMARKETS GIFT CARDS HAS RETURNED! THE COST IS $10 EACH; 3 FOR $25; 12 FOR $100

A new event, the Hub City Happy Hour, will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 also at the DEPOT PATIO. The time is 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The lead singer of the Landsharks, Gary Roland, will be playing acoustical music along with steel drummer, John Patti! There will be drinks for purchase. Light snacks will be served!

Sounds like a pretty fun way to help out to me.
